From The Docks – Whale Watching is Finally Here!

All throughout the year, our office receives questions about whale watching. Most of the year, our response is that the guest should return in the wintertime, during the annual gray whale migration. That is the only time when we, as an honest & reputable charter company, can guarantee that our guests will see whales.

As of this coming Sunday, January 16, it will officially be Whale Watching Season here at Sail San Diego! Have you ever seen whales in the wild? It is a truly majestic site to behold, making whale watching tours are the most popular tour of the season!

Each winter, the Pacific Gray Whales head down from Alaska to Baja California & Mexico to have their young. Each season, 25,000 whales pass through our waters & we get the chance to go sailing & spot them out in the open water!

Sail San Diego’s whale watching tours are 3.5 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your sailing experience & take in the sights. In addition to gray whales, we often spot other marine life as well including dolphins, sea lions, & seals.

Our winters are fairly mild here in San Diego, but in order to fully enjoy the sights & sounds of a close encounter with wildlife, we recommend bringing a warm jacket or windbreaker to wear while you sail. Don’t forget your camera! Our Whale Watching Tours depart twice daily; pick the time that’s best for your group.

Call our office now at 619-297-7426 to experience the thrilling experience of Whale Watching with Sail San Diego!
