Popping the Question with Sail San Diego

At Sail San Diego we go above and beyond to make your experience as memorable and amazing as we can! We love hosting proposals as we have a 100% acceptance rate, and feel honored to be a part of such an amazing event in one’s lifetime. We recently got a call from a young man named Tyler who inquired about proposing to his girlfriend on one of our sailing tours. We were ecstatic to be a part of his wonderful day and were able to help him execute the perfect plan. Tyler booked a Private Sail for the following Saturday but called it a “lesson” so his girlfriend didn’t think anything unusual would be going on. They both have always loved sailing so it was the perfect cover. We could barely wait!

Saturday started out as just any other day with gorgeous skies and the perfect wind for a nice ride.  Tyler and Julianna arrived in a timely fashion. As they walked up to the marina, Julianna was impressed to see our gorgeous 40 foot Catalina sailboat. Eager to get started we took off. The couple got comfortable with some complimentary drinks and snacks and started with their “lesson”. Captain John taught them all about the boat, they helped release the sails and even got to get behind the helm!

After the work was over and the sails were up it was time to relax. There were whales on the horizon and Tyler saw the perfect setting for the moment he had been waiting for. The couple moved to the bow of the boat to enjoy our comfortable beanbags and some alone time where Tyler finally popped the question!! Of course Julianna was surprised and said yes! It was leisurely ride back into the harbor with the happy couple. Tyler had Champagne and flowers waiting for his fiancé back at the doc where they enjoyed a nice picnic in celebration of their wonderful afternoon.
