Two Sundays in December mark one of the most exciting holiday events in America’s Finest City: San Diego Bay’s Parade of Lights.
The Parade of Lights is an annual San Diego tradition, 46 years strong, in which a multitude of beautifully-decorated powerboats & sailboats traverse San Diego’s “Big Bay” while showing off their Christmas lights & other holiday decorations.
The Parade of Lights allows both private & commercial vessels to enter its contest. Participants are invited to gather together after the parades are done.
The awards available are:
- Best of Parade. “Star of India” Perpetual Cup

- Best Yacht Club Entry
- Best San Diego Port Tenant’s Entry
- Best Power (Commercial)
- Best of Power 46 ft and over (Private)
- Best of Power 33 – 45 ft (Private)
- Best of Power 32 ft and under (Private)
- Best Sail (Commercial)
- Best of Sail 46 ft and over (Private)
- Best of Sail 33 – 45 ft and over (Private)
- Best of Sail 32 ft and under (Private)
- Best Self-Powered Vessel

San Diego’s 2017 Parade of Lights will be held on Sunday, December 10 and Sunday, December 17, beginning at Shelter Island around 5:00 PM.
