Planning your San Diego Itinerary:
Here are some top-recommendations from our crew here at Sail San Diego to include in your travel plans!
- Sailing of course! You haven’t fully experienced San Diego until you’ve spent a day sailing on San Diego Bay.
Browse our selection of sailing charters HERE. - Visit Balboa Park. Explore their museums, park trails & gardens, landmarks, concerts & events, and the San Diego Zoo.
- Explore the beautiful beaches and coastline San Diego has to offer. These must-sees include: Sunset Cliffs (the views at sunset are stunning), Coronado Beach on Coronado Island, and Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.
- Sample craft breweries. San Diego hosts over 100 craft breweries including Ballast Point, Eppig brewing Waterfront Biergarten (less than a minute walk from our docks here at SSD), & Coronado Brewing Company.
- Watch a Padres Game at Petco Park in Downtown SD. It’s an exhilarating experience you’ll never forget!
Places to Eat:
Looking for a bite to eat before or after your sail? Check out these local eateries all located on Shelter Island (all within walking distance from our docks)
- Mitch’s Seafood – for the best locally caught seafood in the area.
- Ketch Grill & Taps – a local tavern with a selection of cocktails & menu options overlooking the marina.
- Portside Coffee and Gelato – joining us on board for a Morning Sail and on the lookout for a cup of coffee before your sail? This is the spot.
- Bali Hai – a Polynesian eatery known for its famous Mai Tai cocktails and gorgeous Bay-front views.
- Umi Sushi – by far the most delicious sushi around. Crew tip: order the citrus albacore roll with lemon slices on top!
Our crew at Sail San Diego looks forward to hosting you on the waters of San Diego Bay.
Come on board for a relaxing 2-hour Morning Sail, a 3-hour adventurous Day Sail on the open ocean, or watch the sun-set from the deck of one of our 3-hour Sunset Sails.
